He is a worldwide renowned expert in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and molecular magnetics. He and his research team are engaged into investigations devoted to the effects of electron and nuclear spin on the direction of radical chemical reactions. He is a winner of the Lenin Award and the State Award of the Russian Federation, a winner of the Award of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of education.
