 Summary

L. V. Vilkov, Doctor in Chemistry, graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Moscow State University, in 1953. He took his Candidate degree in 1957, and the degree of Doctor in 1969. One of the pioneers of gas phase electron diffraction in the USSR and the head of the University diffraction team engaged in studies of organic molecules, Dr. Vilkov is the author of more than 150 papers, including 15 reviews and two booksЧTheoretical Foundations of Gas Phase Electron Diffraction (Moscow University Press, 1974) and Determination of the Geometrical Structure of Free Molecules (Moscow, Mir Publishers, 1983). His main field of interest is the study of the patterns in the geometry of molecules of various classes of organic compounds such as conjugated molecules, nitrogen derivatives, organo-silicon, -phosphorus, -boron, -tin, and other organo-element compounds. V. S. Mastryukov, Candidate in Chemistry, graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Moscow State University, in 1958, taking his Candidate degree in 1965. He works with the group studying the gas phase structure of organic compounds. The author of more than 60 papers, 5 reviews and 4 books, his scientific interests are focussed on cyclic, bicyclic and polyhedral (carbo-rane) structures, and also some organo-element compounds. N. I. Sadova, Candidate in Chemistry, graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Moscow State University, in 1959. She took her Candidate degree in 1967. She works with the group studying the gas phase structure of organic compounds. The author of more than 60 papers, 5 reviews and 2 books, her major interests are compounds involving conjugated bonds and nitrogen compounds including nitrocompounds. The authors have worked together for over 20 years and share the same opinions about many of the problems of the structure of molecules.
