This catalog is the first attempt to create a practical guide to antique coins that circulated in ancient times in the territory of present-day Ukraine. The catalog was assembled by amateurs and is intended for amateurs, collectors and amateur students of local history for whom it may serve as an identification instrument facilitating determination of scientific and material value of ancient coins. The catalog should not be treated as a scientific edition. From the inception, it was not intended for such purpose (scientific issues related to minting of coins and monetary circulation in the territory, are treated in articles and monographs listed in References). Nevertheless, the catalog may be of interest for learned numismatists, too, since it introduces certain previously unpublished coin types and varieties (e.g. 6, 7, 32, 60 etc.). Undoubtedly, the attention of experts may be attracted to certain controversial hypotheses (e.g. about the originally intended purpose of the so-called "weights", about suggested venues of production of the Scythian arrow coins). A purpose I would suggest as the most important for this catalog is to arouse interest towards ancient coins that could be instrumental in discovery and preservation of such for scientific study.
