Ed McClanahan was born in Kentucky in 1932. After receiving a B.A. from Miami (Ohio) University and an M.A. from the University of Kentucky, he taught English and creative writing at a number of universities, including Stanford University, University of Montana, and University of Kentucky, where he teaches today. Mr. McClanahan has published fiction and nonfiction pieces in Esquire, Playboy, Rolling Stone, and other periodicals and was coeditor (with Fred Nelson) of the anthology One Lord, One Faith, and One Cornbread. The Natural Man is his first novel; he lives in Port Royal, Kentucky, with his wife and two children.
